About Hacky Hour UQ

Hacky Hour UQ, Tuesdays 3pm at Cafe Nano

The idea of Hacky Hour is that researchers and students who’d like assistance with their research IT can come along and ask questions or you can also just come down and work on whatever they’re working on, in the company of other researchers who are into computing. Typical questions are around: getting started with Python and R, stats, machine learning, bio-image, software tools, research data management (RDM), how to access high performance computing, cloud data storage and tools for data cleaning and data visualisation.

All welcome to bring problems or come along as a helper.

Bioinformatics Hacky Hour

Held on the first Tuesday of the month. Come and ask bioinformatics analysis, software and pipeline questions in addition to the usual research IT questions.

BioLab Hacky Hour

Held on the last Tuesday of the month to answer your experimental design and technical sample processing questions to get you started in the lab in addition to the usual research IT questions.

Very occasionally Hacky Hour may not run due other commitments of the helpers. Follow us on Twitter to get the latest announcements.
